External gas-fired rotary kiln

Externally gas-fired rotary kilns

Gas-Fired Rotary Kilns represent advanced thermal processing equipment. They utilize the combustion of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or producer gas to generate heat externally. This heat is then transferred indirectly to the material inside the rotating cylinder.

Featuring an externally heated design, these indirect fired rotary kilns offer precise temperature control, an adjustable processing atmosphere, high thermal efficiency, and reduced pollutant emissions. This combination makes them exceptionally well-suited for applications demanding high product purity and controlled calcination processes – requirements often shared with electric rotary kiln technology.

Product Details

External gas-fired rotary kiln overall structure

External gas rotary kiln structure composition

Constructed from high-temperature resistant stainless steel, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1150°C. Fitted with internal lifter flights to ensure thorough material agitation.

Incorporates proportional control valves, ignition devices, and forced-draft burners. Compatible with multiple fuel types (gas/liquid).

Utilizes chain/sprocket or gear transmission paired with variable frequency drive (VFD) motors. Includes manual backup drive for emergency operation.

Features fully automated intelligent control for precise regulation of calcination temperature, atmosphere, duration, throughput, and other process parameters.

Built with premium lightweight refractory insulation and folded ceramic fiber modules to minimize thermal losses.

Integrated design combines feed hoppers, screw conveyors, and mixing assemblies to ensure uniform material flow.

Working Principle

Feed material enters the stainless steel calcination cylinder uniformly via the electrically heated rotary kiln’s feeding system. Under variable frequency drive (VFD) controlled rotation, it undergoes axial movement and lifter-induced tumbling.

Heat transfers indirectly through the cylinder wall from an externally mounted combustion chamber, maintaining a precisely controlled 1150°C thermal environment to achieve:

✅ Eco-Friendly Operation: Complete isolation of combustion gases from processed material ensures superior product purity.

✅ Exceptional Temperature Uniformity: ±5°C uniformity with real-time adjustments for delicate powder/granule processing.

✅ Energy Recycling Technology: Integrated waste heat recovery + exhaust gas purification system delivers >65% thermal efficiency.

Wide range of applications

Typical applicable materials include but are not limited to:

  • Molecular sieves (4A, 3A, 5A, 13X)
  • Activated carbon, catalysts, oxidizers
  • Magnesium hydroxide, magnesium chloride, basic magnesium carbonate
  • Copper oxide, copper sulfate, iron oxide, nickel oxide, ferric chloride
  • Kaolin, alum, aluminum sulfate, cast sand, limestone, barite
  • Sewage sediment, industrial waste, agricultural waste, etc.

Product Advantages

Precision Process Control

This externally gas-heated rotary kiln delivers precise regulation of atmosphere, temperature, duration, and throughput to meet diverse calcination requirements. With a maximum operating temperature of 1150°C, it accommodates high-temperature industrial processes.

Energy-Efficient & Eco-Conscious Design

The electric rotary kiln (Note: Context suggests gas-electric dual capability) supports multi-fuel flexibility: natural gas, LPG, coal gas, diesel, or electricity. Exhaust gases are either recycled or treated to meet emission standards, ensuring environmental compliance.

Operator-Friendly Functionality

Fully automated control guarantees stable continuous operation. Adjustable cylinder rotation speed and kiln inclination angle optimize material residence time for varying feedstocks.

Reduced Operational Expenditure

Compared to electric heating, gas fuels offer lower energy costs. Integrated waste heat recovery further enhances operating economy.

Raw material testing

We believe that real results drive real solutions. That’s why we’ve built a dedicated R&D and Testing Center where customers can run trial processing with their own materials. By observing how materials respond to actual calcination in our systems, we’re able to fine-tune every detail—from the feed setup and externally heated electric rotary kiln, to the exhaust gas treatment and final cooling and collection.

Our engineering team doesn’t just follow a formula—we configure each system to match your unique process requirements and performance goals. The result? Smarter calcination solutions that boost efficiency, meet evolving market standards, and take the guesswork out of equipment selection and production startup. When you work with us, you get more than machines—you get confidence from the very first test.
